GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

The journal OUTRO PENSAR welcomes original articles, reviews, papers, and research written in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian or German. Besides welcoming translations of scientific articles into Portuguese, research, papers, and reviews already published or not written in a language other than Portuguese, are also accepted if copyright is respected. Submissions must comply with the deadlines stipulated by specific calls for papers disclosed in advance. Only articles that address the selected theme for that year announced in previous volumes and calls for papers will be examined.

Except in extraordinary cases, articles must have between 15 and 40 pages, including bibliographic references and notes. The reviews should not exceed, in principle, 15 pages, including bibliographic references and notes. They also must present the complete reference of the analyzed papers at the beginning of the text.

Aiming at the quality of the published papers and the optimization of the editorial process, it becomes a requirement for submission of articles that the author is a specialist, master's, master's, doctoral student/doctor / an in psychology and/or in related areas, as long as they have research linked to the journal’s subject. A maximum of 2 (two) authors per article is also a condition, except in extraordinary cases, all respecting the title requirement indicated above.

 

STANDARDS FOR MANUSCRIPTS

Manuscripts must follow the following rules:

The file must be sent in .doc or compatible format.

1. The manuscript must contain:

(a) the title and summary of the text in its original language and English. The abstract should include between 100 and 300 words;

(b) a list of 03 (three) to 06 (six) keywords, on the purpose of bibliographic indexing, also in its original language and in English.

2. References to authors or texts must be included in the following format: (AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, date) or (AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, date, page). E.g.: (LACAN, 1979) or (LACAN, 1979, p. 64). Different titles by the same author published in the same year will be identified by a letter after the date. E.g.: (PLATÃO, 1989a), (PLATÃO, 1989b).

3. Footnotes must not include irrelevant information, limited to the minimum necessary and indicated by Arabic numerals in ascending order.

4. All references used must be presented at the end of the article, listed in alphabetical order, obeying the following standards (according to ABNT NBR 6023):

Book: SURNAME, Name (abbreviated). Title in italics: subtitle. Edition number, if not the first. Place of publication: name of publisher, date of publication;

Collection: SURNAME, Name (abbreviated). Title of the essay. In: SURNAME, Name (abbreviated) of the organizer (s). Collection title in italics: subtitle. Edition number, if not the first. Place of publication: name of publisher, date of publication.

Journal article: SURNAME, Name (abbreviated). Title of the article. Name of the journal in italics, place of publication, volume and number of the journal, range of pages of the article, period of publication.

Dissertations and theses: SURNAME, Name (abbreviated). year. title in italics. Local. a total number of pages. Academic degree and area of study [thesis (master's) or dissertation (doctorate)]. The Institution in which it was presented.

Internet (electronic documents): SURNAME, Name (abbreviated). (year). title in italics, [online]. The electronic address must be registered, preceded by the expression “Available at:”, and the date of access, preceded by the expression “Retrieved on:”.

Citations with up to 3 lines must be enclosed in double quotation marks. Citations with more than 3 lines must be indented 4 cm from the left margin in size 10, single-spaced.

Translations must be submitted with their originals, the author’s authorization, and the publisher responsible for the first publication.

 

GOOD EDITORIAL PRACTICES

OUTRO PENSAR, international journal of hermeneutic and phenomenological psychology, offers free and immediate access to its content, following the democratization of knowledge principle, making scientific knowledge freely available to the public, as well as the exemption from any monetary fee, value, or charge to those who submit their work to the journal. The journal uses the Open Journal Systems, a free open-source system for the administration and publication of journals, developed with support and distribution by the Public Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License.

Authors who publish in OUTRO PENSAR keep the copyright and grant the journal the right to first publishing the work, allowing sharing and adaptation, even for commercial purposes, with due recognition of the authorship and initial publication in this journal.

Authors can take on additional contracts separately, for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in OUTRO PENSAR (e.g.: publishing in an institutional repository or as a book chapter), with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication in this journal.

After the publishment in this journal, authors can submit their documents to personal pages or institutional portals (always offering the item's bibliographic reference).

The authors consent that their articles can be incorporated in the journal OUTRO PENSAR into existing scientific databases and systems (current indexers and databases) or to exist in the future (future indexers and databases).

Reviews, articles, essays, and translations published in OUTRO PENSAR are the authors' responsibility.

If the editorial team identifies improper conduct (plagiarism, citation manipulation, falsification of data, etc.) in an article published in its journal, COPE's guidelines will be followed when dealing with these accusations.

 

PRIVACY POLICY

The names and addresses informed in this journal (either by e-mail or by the platform) will be used exclusively for the services provided by this publishment and will not be made available for other purposes or to third parties.

 

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

OUTRO PENSAR journal adopts the double anonymized review policy to approve the contributions that will be periodically published. This policy generally involves observing the following points:

  1. All contributions must be submitted electronically through the OUTRO PENSAR portal, following the five steps.
  2. After submission of the contribution, the author (s) must follow the evaluation process on the website, which can last from 30 (thirty) to 90 (ninety) days.
  3. The evaluation process begins when the managing editor, after a preliminary analysis of the document sent by the author (s), appoints an editor responsible for the submission evaluation process with the reviewers/reviewers and the author (s).
  4. The responsible editor, after analyzing the adequacy to the guidelines and norms of the journal, submits the contribution to 2 (two) reviewers/reviewers, initiating the first evaluation round.
  5. The evaluators/reviewers may be members of the Editorial Board of OUTRO PENSAR or external guests (ad hoc reviewers), who contribute to the evaluation process and guarantee the scientific quality of the publications.
  6. After the result of the first evaluation round, the author will be informed of the decision of the evaluators/reviewers and must provide, in the event of conditional approval, within 15 (fifteen) days, the adequacy of his contribution to the observations of the evaluators/reviewers.
  7. It is up to the editor to define whether there will be a need for a second round of evaluation for contributions approved on condition.

Throughout the evaluation process, the confidentiality and anonymity of both authors and referees are guaranteed.

To guarantee confidentiality and anonymity, authors, editors, and reviewers must observe the following precautions regarding documents sent electronically on the journal’s website:

  1. The authors of the document must exclude all references that may lead to the identification of the authorship of their contribution.
  2. In Microsoft Office documents, the author identification must be removed from the document's properties (in the File> Properties menu), starting with File, in the main menu, and clicking on the sequence: File> Save as ...> Tools (or Options on Mac)> Security options ...> Remove personal information from file when saving> OK> Save.

The final acceptance of the contributions for publication depends on the prior favorable recommendation of the referees, on the effecting of the necessary adjustments by the authors, and the final approval of the Board and the Editorial Board of OUTRO PENSAR.

 

PERIODICITY

The journal OUTRO PENSAR publishes a volume on an annual basis. The volume may have a previously defined theme or be free-themed (within the thematic scope of the journal) and submissions must comply with the deadline stipulated in the call for a paper published in advance.
