Autism Spectrum Disorder And Phenomenology
A Detachment Based On Myths
Abstract
The article intends to promote topics for reflection on the reasons why the phenomenological practice is shown to be distant from the care of patients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and bring to light a possibility of phenomenological praxis performed within the scope of this diagnosis. We will use the thinking of authors such as Merleau-Ponty, Heidegger, Messas and Feijoo to provide a critical debate on the referred approach as a way of structuring the hegemonic sciences; in addition, we will use two comic books (The Invisible Difference, Speak Mary: A Graphic Novel About Autism and Jun) to represent what Phenomenology intends to conquer as “the most original place”, seeking to establish a territory of action for this approach with the ASD. It is possible to discuss the distancing of these poles from the naming of an allegorical triad - myth of irrelevance, insignificance and ineptitude - which reveals the elementary bases that would support the way scientific thought works and how such engendering of principles displaces Phenomenology to a place of practical disvalue, keeping scientificity within its own logistics and culminating in the operationalization of care through the technical-calculating way of thinking.
